The way that New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) runs the Market Development programme changed in early 2009, with the aims of making applications and claims for reimbursement easier.
Also, partnerships, sole traders, trading trusts, and other enterprises and business structures can now apply for Enterprise Development Grant – Market Development (EDG-MD) funding.
You can get new forms and information online at www.nzte.govt.nz/edg.
The changes affect:
• who can apply for Enterprise Development Grant (EDG) - Market Development funding,
• the things that EDG Market Development funding can be used to pay for, and
• the forms and paperwork used to apply for EDG Market Development funding and to make claims for payments.
Previously, applicants had to be limited liability companies. This requirement has been removed and now all New Zealand commercial enterprises will be able to apply for EDG-Market Development funding if they are planning significant activity to develop international markets and can demonstrate that they are capable of implementing their plans. This means that partnerships, sole traders, trading trusts, and other enterprises and business structures can now apply for EDG-MD funding.
Market development activity in Australian markets is not eligible for funding, due to the long-standing CER agreement between New Zealand and Australia
